How can we use www.4Teachers.org?

This site's incorporation of technology can be a wonderful addition to our curriculum that is being designed to enhance and nurture the learning of the 21st Century learner. For example, many of our students are not native English speakers. Using the site resources in Spanish could possibly help these students feel more comfortable with learning English. Another interesting resource on the site is NoteStar. Teachers can help and monitor student research and surely the students would get a kick out of collaborating with their colleagues and teachers online. I would recommend this site to other educators to use for the straightforward resources it provides.

www.4Teachers.org website analysis

The website titled 4Teachers (www.4teachers.org) addresses the issue of acquiring the technology infrastructure for the campus. Some of the resources are Spanish; some are for grants, bilingual and ELL. For the visual learner, there is also a link to YouTube and TeacherTube videos. Success stories from other teachers and links with information on adaptive and assistive technology are also available.

The strategies presented on this site, when used appropriately, could meet the needs of the 21st Century learner by allowing instruction in different media and in a cross-curricular manner. I find it also helpful that the site information is also offered in Spanish. Also, there is a small box at the top of the home page that contains links to “Hot Teacher Topics” and “4Teacher Features”. Both of these sections are a great way to draw attention to topics that someone browsing the site may find interesting but may not be looking for.

Overall, the site has a good design layout. The links are clearly labeled; however, the links that specifically lead to student activities are not easy to locate. The activities for students appear to be interesting and stimulating, but it does not appear that those activities would be easy to locate by a student. The link to 4Kids is at the very top of the page, above the 4Teachers banner, and it would be easier found elsewhere, although some of the teacher resources link to students’ activities also. The color schemed is visually appealing and the site does not contain pop-ups, ads, or moving text and graphics that can be distracting.
